90 Minute UL 924 Systems

LIS only works with UL 924 tested and certified systems, providing you with the industry’s highest capacity and efficiency systems. 90-minute lighting inverter systems for emergency lighting needs provide industry-wide solutions for the current UL 924 standard. Article 700 or 701 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101, the Fire Code, NFPA 1, the International Building Code, IBC, and the International Fire Code, IFC. LIS provides custom VRLA and Lithium-Ion Battery Systems for Central Lighting Inverters.

Lithium Ion vs. VRLA Battery

The lithium ion battery has not fully been recognized into the the central lighting inverter market as of yet. Challenges of moving from VRLA batteries to lithium based inverters derive from the short duration runtime burst lithium ion batteries provide. LIS works with OEM’s who can apply certified UL 924 certified Lighting Inverters and UPS systems, that also work with longer runtime lithium ion battery systems. The 90 minute rating can be achieved. Lithium provides longer life batteries and much less maintenance attention.

Lighting Inverter Sizing

Members of our team are available to assist in the system selection process. You may provide a specification for us to review with you. You may need a walkthrough with an Electrical contact either provided by us or your own. We will assist every step of the way. Sizing review, voltage selection, Battery Runtime options are all important variables in the selection process. Proper documentation of System manuals and technical information are an integral part of the process so that the installation technician or contractor can plan and estimate the project.

Electrical supplies for homes and businesses commonly use single-phase alternating current (AC). This alternating current works with most appliances, simple office equipment, lighting, and other devices. Yet for large companies with complex equipment and in many other countries, equipment relies on three-phase alternating current. There are some key differences, advantages, and disadvantages when comparing single-phase vs three-phase power. Understanding these differences will allow you to select the right one for your company.

A lighting inverter system is made up of it’s power conditioning component, inverter components, charging, and the backup runtime component which are batteries. The UL 924 compliance code requires that 90 minutes of battery minimum are provided to all exit sign routes. This 90 minute runtime can only pass it’s minimum test by having well charged, healthy batteries.
